The Lookout Tower Near Point Bonita

There are tons of opportunities for pictures in Golden Gate National Recreation Area and this is one of them. Near Point Bonita lighthouse sits an old military installation that has been abandoned since the early 1900s. Most of the structures are (of course) eroding and covered in graffiti, making them excellent subjects when compared with the gorgeous coastline and views of the bay.

When I see a nice sky after it rains I head out to nearby Claude Moore Park to see its windmill in relief against it. Right around the corner is a rather large (and still) pond where the geese hang out as well. It’s all very peaceful and zen, which keeps bringing me back.

Water Drops Under the Canopy

Every morning when I come in to work I glance upwards at the sky through the glass canopy at the entrance to my building. Something about the metal and glass structure just draws my eye to it. This is especially true on rainy days when the rain droplets accumulate on the top of the glass, making interesting patterns. It was a mildly rainy day earlier this week and there weren’t very many droplets, but their arrangement caught my attention just the same.

Recently I noticed that the restaurant across the street is lighting up their canopy every day (despite the sunny weather post-Irene). Leaving work I snapped this one quickly as I was walking by.

Every day I take a break and walk around the park in Reston Town Center. It never disappoints - there are always things to see, whether that be people enjoying the fountain or the clouds surrounding the apartment towers. On this particular day I enjoyed the way the light was hitting the art sculptures in particular.
